80 to lose jobs at Hadley Shopfitters

May 28, 2014 by Tez

One of Portsmouth’s longest standing businesses, Hadley Shopfitters, has announced it will be making 80 of its staff redundant. Having traded for more than 90 years, and with contracts with John Lewis and Harvey Nichols, the company has decided to axe jobs.

Two young apprentices and staff members were called into the companies head office where the news was broken yesterday.

Donna Jones, ward councillor for the area, said she was deeply saddened to hear of the job losses. Any struggling businesses in the area are urged to get in touch with the council who may be able to help with rates through its assisted area status.

So far there has been no comment from Hadley’s managing and financial directors.
